Largest exhibition of Hermes handbags in Europe to be held during London Fashion Week.
London, U.K. (PRWEB UK) 6 August 2015 -- Lilac Blue London, the Mayfair based luxury accessories firm, invites you to join us at the Belgraves Hotel during London Fashion Week from Sunday 20th until Tuesday 22nd September for Europe’s largest exhibition of Hermes handbags, and for an exclusive invite only champagne reception and talk on the evening of Monday 21st September from 6pm – 9pm.
Lilac Blue London’s story began in 2002 in Westbourne Grove, before settling into its current home in Mayfair in 2010. Lilac Blue London sources the iconic Birkin and Kelly Hermes handbags for clients from across the globe as well as selling pre-loved and vintage luxury pieces. The company offers authentication services to London’s auction houses.
Hermes was founded in 1837 in Paris to provide luxury harnesses and bridles for the horse drawn carriages of Europe’s nobility. The first Hermes handbags were sold in 1900 and instantly became recognized as the pinnacle of design and have continued to emphasize the value of hand craftsmanship.
An Hermes handbag in a woman’s wardrobe has become a signature of style and wealth, and has been displayed by style and fashion icons including Grace Kelly for whom the Kelly bag was named, Marlene Dietrich, Ingrid Bergman, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham; who is said to have a collection valued at around £1.5million pounds, and of course Jane Birkin.
The Birkin bag came about when Jean-Louis Dumas, the then chairman of Hermes, had a chance encounter with Jane Birkin on an Air France flight to London. Birkin had been upgraded for the flight and fell into conversation with Dumas complaining about the impracticality of most handbags. Dumas and Birkin are said to have sketched the dream bag onto an Air France sick bag, and two years later the Birkin bag appeared in boutiques.
Lilac Blue London commented, “These bags have been kept hidden for decades. We now have an amazing opportunity to display the world’s finest handbags, and we want to give collectors a chance to see why Hermes bags are the most successful accessory in fashion history.”
Join Lilac Blue London during London Fashion Week at The Belgraves Hotel, Chesham Place, London, SW1 on Sunday 20th – Tuesday 22nd September for this wonderful exhibition and sale. For invites to the champagne reception and talk, please contact us.
