Cloud-Based Phone Service Powers Medical Command Center During Pan American Games
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) July 17, 2015 -- Easy Office Phone proudly announces its support of St. John Ambulance, in the organization’s role of Spectator Medical Response during the 2015 Games. In addition to covering spectator medical needs, St. John Ambulance is also supporting athletes, at the equestrian event.
In its role at the Games, St. John Ambulance will be fielding volunteer first response teams in the stands, on the streets and at venue gates, to ensure the health and safety of those attending the Games as spectators. Easy Office Phone (EOP) will be providing the voice and data backbone service to St. John Ambulance first responder teams.
"St. John Ambulance is very pleased with the technology, service and professionalism of Easy Office Phone to help achieve its mission of providing service to the games," says Brian Cole, Chief Executive Officer for St. John Ambulance Ontario. "The Easy Office Phone solution has been integral to St. John Ambulance's success with this initiative.”
During the Games, St. John Ambulance will be running an operations centre and a first responders’ camp, both of which will be communicating via EOP networks.
To enhance communications, EOP will be sponsoring Internet service at the camp, so that first responders can communicate with families and friends. The camp will house up to 120 first responder volunteers from across Canada.
For operations staff, EOP will provide a robust Contact Centre service based on its cloud-based phone platform, allowing a single point of contact for each event Zone. The operations centre will benefit from a multi-layered redundancy plan. The first layer consists of Easy Office Phone’s geographically separated data centers across North America, while the second layer comprises separate, load-balanced data circuits in the operations centre. Layer three consists of a LTE wireless Internet failover, and the fourth layer is a platform-based redundancy: in this final layer, phones at the operations centre that aren’t answered will automatically fail over to cell phones. To offer an end-to-end solution EOP engaged Rogers Authorized Dealer Getconnected as a sponsor, who have provided cell phones for first responders in the field.
Between the two locations, the organization will field 600 responders, completing over 1700 shifts for a total of nearly 12,000 hours. The camp will see fluctuating levels of responders, with approximately 100 on average, and will be open 24/7 hours during the duration of the Games.
“We are proud to provide a communications backbone to St. John Ambulance during this event,” says Carl Watene, VP Sales and Channel Development. “The operations centre will deliver a direct line to the first responders, providing quick response times and multi-layered redundancy. In the camp, during the six to eight weeks those responders are making a sacrifice to volunteer, they’ll be able to keep in touch with loved ones.”
