Colorado State University-Global Campus Selected for Alternative Credit Consortium by the American Council on Education
Greenwood Village, Colo. (PRWEB) July 17, 2015 -- Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is proud to announce that it has been selected to participate in a new initiative designed to increase flexibility for students earning their bachelor’s degree. In partnership with the American Council on Education (ACE), the Alternative Credit Consortium will allow CSU-Global to further its mission of student success by utilizing new alternative credit options that reduce costs and accelerate time to degree completion.
Through its inclusion in the consortium, CSU-Global will accept transfer credit for students who successfully complete low to no cost general education online courses that have been approved by CSU-Global from a pool of providers. To advance the current research available on alternative credit, the university will then share anonymous data on the progress and success rates of its cohort with ACE. CSU-Global is one of 40 institutions around the U.S. that has been selected by ACE for participation since its launch in December of 2014.

CSU-Global has consistently worked to maximize the number of credits accepted for transfer into its online bachelor’s degree completion programs. Students can transfer up to 90 credits, including up to 60 from nontraditional sources. The online state university also offers its own alternative credit options including Prior Learning Assessments and Competency Based Exams. Prior Learning Assessments allows students to demonstrate how they meet the learning outcomes for a course based on their previous work experience while Competency Based Exams provide students access to course materials to study before they decide to attempt to earn credit by sitting for an exam for a small fee.
