The American Association of Heart Failure Nurses Welcomes Newly Elected Board Members

The newly elected 2015-2016 AAHFN Board of Directors were announced at AAHFN’s 11th Annual Conference on Heart Failure, Saturday, June 27th.

Newly appointed AAHFN president, Dr. Marilyn Prasun, is a Clinical Nurse Specialist, researcher and coordinator of the Heart Failure Disease Management program at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She has worked with hospitalized cardiac patients as well as outpatients for the past 20 years as an advanced practice nurse. Dr. Prasun has served as primary investigator and co-investigator for a number of clinical studies. She has published articles in many professional cardiovascular journals and magazines. She was the 2002 recipient of the American Heart Association Martha N. Hill New Investigator of the Year Award, sponsored by the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing for her research regarding self-care and diuretic titration in heart failure patients.

Dr. Prasun is involved in many professional organizations, including the Illinois Society of Advanced Practice Nurses. In 2007, she was inducted as a fellow into the American Heart Association and Council on Cardiovascular Nursing. She is a charter member of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN) where she has presented at past meetings.

During her presidential incoming speech, Dr. Marilyn Prasun, thanked Connie Lewis for, “all of her hard work during her tenure as AAHFN President.” She is looking forward to serving and advancing the AAHFN in her new capacity as president.
