Dr. Anthony Geroulis Comments On Decline In Number Of Cosmetic Surgical Procedures In The United States
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) July 22, 2015 -- Dr. Anthony J. Geroulis, board-certified cosmetic surgeon and founder of North Shore Center for Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery, has been operating for over thirty years. As a clinical professor of surgery at University of Chicago Medicine, Dr. Geroulis teaches other surgeons the latest surgical techniques. As an accomplished sculptor, Dr. Geroulis recently completed his first bronze sculpture of a head and neck of an American Indian, entitled “The Warrior.” Included in the many procedures that Dr. Geroulis teaches as a clinical professor of surgery are the rhinoplasty procedure, lower eyelid surgery and upper eyelid surgery, also referred to as an upper blepharoplasty.
According to a 2014 study performed by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and published in early 2015, the number of cosmetic surgical procedures performed in the United States have fallen 12% since the year 2000. Additionally, the number of rhinoplasty procedures and eyelid surgeries has fallen 44% and 37%, respectively, since the year 2000. Dr. Geroulis performs dozens of these procedures each year, primarily because he is often sought out for his expertise. Dr. Geroulis pioneered the “tranconjunctival approach,” which involves carefully removing fat deposits with a minimal incision. The procedure is revolutionary because it leaves no visible scar; the location of the incision is hidden. Additionally, Dr. Geroulis teaches rhinoplasty surgery techniques to residents at University of Chicago Medicine because he has been operating for over three decades and is one of the premier surgeons nationally in his field.
“While these figures have fallen quite drastically, those procedures still remain in the top five most popular procedures of 2014 nationally,” explains Dr. Geroulis. “Whatever the reason for the decline in cosmetic surgical procedures, whether it be economical or the development of more non-surgical options, rhinoplasty surgery, upper eyelid surgery and lower eyelid surgery have remained very popular at my practice.”
