PAINWeek 2015 Welcomes the American Pain Society and the American Society of Addiction Medicine to the National Conference in Las Vegas

Topics will include Why Does It Hurt to Get Older and What Can We Do About It?, Assessment of Pain in Older Adults, Pain and Depression in Older Adults, and Management of Pain and Maintaining Function in Older Adults. Roger Fillingim, PhD, Past President of APS, stated, “The American Pain Society is delighted to continue our partnership with PAINWeek, presenting the APS track for the 4th year in a row. On Saturday, September 12, the American Society of Addiction Medicine will present a four-session track addressing the complex management of the two conditions of pain and addiction at this year’s PAINWeek. “ASAM holds a day-long conference on pain and addiction every year at ASAM’s annual conference in April. We are very excited also to be able to present some of our innovative education during PAINWeek,” said Dr. Ilene Robeck. Dr. Robeck is on the planning committee of ASAM’s pain and addiction course and is the Editor and Chief of ASAM’s forthcoming Pain and Addiction Handbook. The ASAM track will include Medical Aspects of Marijuana Use, Nonpharmacological Management of Pain, Buprenorphine in Patients With Chronic Pain and Opioid SUD, and Alcohol Use Disorder and Chronic Pain.
Convening at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for its 9th year on September 8-12, PAINWeek 2015 expects to welcome over 2,000 physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals for a comprehensive program of course offerings, satellite events, and exhibits. Additionally, over 100 exhibitors will be participating at the Exhibit Hall, commencing with the traditional Welcome Reception on Wednesday evening.
