OTT Operators Recognize Demand for Short Codes

ClearSky Technologies, Inc., a global provider of network optimization and hosted infrastructure, today announced contracts with three new operators for its iCode® short code service, granting access to more than 5,000 short code campaigns.

From promotional code discounts to restaurant loyalty programs, short codes are part of a multi-billion-dollar phenomenon and a competitive “must have” for both wireless and OTT operators alike. Beyond voting for America’s next idol or texting an inquiry to Google, short codes also allow subscribers to make charitable donations from anywhere in the world. The recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal claimed the lives of over 7,000 people. In less than three months, tens of thousands of disaster-relief dollars have been raised via short code donations alone.

“ClearSky’s iCode service offers our clients one connection to many aggregators, who in turn support a multitude of content providers, each of whom offer a wide variety of short code campaigns,” said ClearSky Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Tony Tagliareni. “This one-stop-shop approach enables operators to quickly and economically offer comprehensive short code services to their subscribers.”
