Annual awards recognize software for design and innovation which improves service delivery within the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration [HVACR] industry

Distributor Corporation of New England (DCNE) was recognized for excellence in product design in the 12th annual Dealer Design Awards Program sponsored by The Air Conditioning Heating & Refrigeration News magazine. An independent panel of contractors acted as judges in the contest that had 107 entries. The company’s Cool Calc Manual J was the Gold prize winner in the Contractor Services and Software category. The ACHR News is the leading trade magazine in the heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration industries.

News Publisher Mike Murphy stated, "These awards give us a unique opportunity to recognize the outstanding research and development efforts that go into many of the products serving the HVACR industry and the awards issue gives our readers an opportunity to read about innovative installation and service solutions."

“DCNE is honored and proud to be recognized for the thousands of hours that have gone into developing this innovative technology,” said Nancy Kolligian, President and CEO of DCNE.

In February 2015 Cool Calc Manual J earned the coveted "Powered by ACCA Manual J" designation and is fully compliant with ANSI/ACCA 8th Edition Version 2. It is unlike any other application on the market. One major difference: Cool Calc is the only ACCA-approved Manual J calculator available online without charge.

Cool Calc is a sophisticated tool that’s surprisingly simple to use. It utilizes advanced geospatial algorithms to process Lidar data and Ortho imagery, allowing it to automatically detect the building footprint, wall area, ceiling area, floor area, and exposures of a home, all from Google Maps. The software uses a home's property tax records and location to automatically select the building materials that were required to meet local building codes for that location when the home was built.

By combining the dimensional data with the material selection, a contractor can perform an ACCA approved Manual J in a matter of minutes, thus freeing them up to increase sales opportunities. For more information visit
