Trident University International to Rename Its Business School After Jones International University Founder
Cypress, CA (PRWEB) July 24, 2015 -- Trident University International (Trident) has announced that it will be renaming its College of Business Administration “The Glenn R. Jones College of Business Administration” in recognition of Jones International University’s (JIU) founder, Glenn R. Jones, and his military service, entrepreneurial spirit, and extensive contributions to the fields of education and business.
Jones is recognized as a pioneer in online and distance learning who devoted much of his life to his passionate belief that world-class education should be available to everyone, everywhere. In its pursuit of excellence, JIU became the first regionally accredited, fully online university ever.
“We are proud to rename our college of business after Glenn R. Jones. Under his leadership, Jones International University has made a tremendous impact on the educational landscape – particularly in online and distance learning,” Travis Allen, President & CEO, Trident.
Jones is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, having served in the Navy for five years, specializing as an underwater bomb disposal frogman. In 1997, he was awarded the “Lone Sailor Award” for outstanding service to the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) community by The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation.
After he left the service Jones enrolled in the University of Colorado School of Law, graduating in 1961. Additionally, he completed the Executive Program at Stanford School of Business.
Trident and JIU entered into a formal agreement in March to facilitate a smooth transition of active students from JIU to Trident. This agreement coincided with JIU announcing that it will cease operations after it graduates its Class of 2015. JIU, a pioneer in distance education, was established in 1992 and is known for its student-first focus and high quality postsecondary education delivered to thousands of students around the world.
Trident serves thousands of students and offers four doctoral programs with 13 concentrations, nine graduate programs with 42 concentrations, and seven undergraduate degrees with 29 concentrations.
Glenn R. Jones passed away on July 7, 2015 at the age of 85.
