Herman L. Orcutt has been elected chairman of the board for Sun Health Services for fiscal year 2016.
He previously served as vice chairman of the Sun Health Services Board and has been active on several committees serving the board.
A highly respected architect, Orcutt is the owner of HZ & P Consulting and is the retired founder of Orcutt - Winslow, an architecture firm he launched in 1971 and managed for 37 years. Paul Winslow, an Arizona State University classmate, became a partner in the business in 1972. Orcutt - Winslow is frequently ranked as one of top architecture firms in the state.
During his distinguished career, Orcutt helped design many of the Valley’s health care, hospitality and educational facilities as well as senior living communities, including The Colonnade, one of Sun Health’s three Life Care communities. He also played a strong role in securing the Arizona Cardinals football stadium (University of Phoenix Stadium) for the city of Glendale and served as chairman of design and construction for the Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority, which had input into the stadium’s final design.
“Herman brings an impressive combination of architectural and business acumen that will help strengthen Sun Health’s vision of being a leading advocate for healthy living,” Sun Health president and CEO Ron Guziak said. “He understands Sun Health’s role in the West Valley and is a natural fit for this important position.”
Orcutt has a rich history of community activism, beginning with two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tunisia. He was part of a group that founded the Western Gateway Team, which later became WESTMARC, one of the metro area’s most dynamic community organizations and a tireless champion for West Valley causes. He also planted the seeds for Leadership West, a program created to develop up-and-coming leaders in the West Valley.
“I’m honored to serve as chairman,” Orcutt said. “This is an exciting time for Sun Health with growth and development taking place across the organization. I believe great things are ahead.”
