DermIDEA AntiAging & Medical Aesthetics is the first spa in Ottawa offering INGLOT O2M breathable nail polish. Formulated with a polymer found in contact lenses to achieve permeability, 02M allows oxygen and water vapor to reach the nail, resulting in healthier nails.
INGLOT O2M polish is also free of phthalate, formaldehyde, toluene, and camphor, all of which are ingredients with negative health and environmental effects. Some evidence shows phthalates may mimic actions of hormones, which may result in developmental or fertility issues, or even certain types of cancer. Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen. According to the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, toluene is classified as a developmental toxicity hazard. Inhalation of toluene and camphor vapors during nail services can lead to symptoms such as headaches, mild drowsiness, nausea, and dizziness.
O2M, which stands for oxygen and moisture, was developed by Wojciech Inglot, a Polish chemist and entrepreneur. His goal was to develop nail polish that was a healthier alternative to traditional nail polish. Overusing traditional nail polish can lead to dry, brittle, and damaged nails. Since INGLOT’s O2M 2009 debut, this breathable polish has exponentially gained popularity worldwide, particularly in the Muslim community, since some scholars have stated that 02M is halal.
DermIDEA AntiAging & Medical Aesthetics is a physician-directed spa that offers rejuvenation services based on a unique blend of scientific techniques and nontoxic products. DermIDEA is Ottawa’s only medical spa that offers INGLOT O2M breathable nail polish for professional manicures and green waterless pedicures.
