Dallas Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program (MIFP) and Sendero, a management consulting firm, provided an internship for a talented high school senior. Modeled after the prestigious White House Fellows, MIFP prepares motivated students to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Sendero, a management consulting company based in downtown Dallas, Texas, participated in the Dallas Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program (MIFP) this summer. Modeled after the prestigious White House Fellows, MIFP prepares motivated students to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Kyrah Teel, a senior at Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, joined Sendero this summer to work within Sendero’s operations team and gain exposure to several aspects of business management including HR, recruiting, employee development, accounting and finance, and marketing.

The mission of the MIFP is to introduce exemplary Dallas high school students to future careers, professional employment opportunities, and valuable workplace skills while providing area companies, nonprofits, and government entities a meaningful way to make an investment in the youth of Dallas and its future workforce.

"This program has given me the opportunity to work in a great environment and put my talents to use," Kyrah remarked about the internship.

The program is an eight week summer internship that introduces Dallas public high school students to careers and employment opportunities in industries and companies where they have expressed interest.

To participate in the program, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average and be recommended to the program by their high school principal or counselor. Students accepted into the program were invited to a job fair to interview with prospective companies. Sendero team members Melody Mattox and Kelsey Hooten participated in the Intern Job Fair in the spring and selected Kyrah as their top choice of candidates.

This is Kyrah’s second year participating in the Mayor's Intern Program. Kyrah looks forward to applying to college this year. Specifically, she hopes to study Psychology at Georgia State University.
