Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) July 27, 2015
MacroPoint, creators of patented freight tracking software designed to give 3rd party visibility into load status by monitoring and tracking the location of a driver’s mobile phone, including flip phones, or existing in-cab ELD/GPS devices, today announced it filed an amended complaint in a lawsuit against supply chain visibility and collaboration platform provider FourKites to protect its intellectual property rights.
The original complaint against FourKites was filed for infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,604,943, entitled “Systems and Methods for Monitoring Location of Freight Carried by a Vehicle.” The amended complaint asserts that FourKites has infringed an additional four patents held by MacroPoint.
MacroPoint’s patent portfolio includes seven patents with nearly 150 patent claims. The company views its patents as proof that its technology is exclusive. MacroPoint takes patent infringement very seriously and has successfully asserted its patent rights in the past.
In addition to U.S. Patent No. 8,604,943, MacroPoint’s patent portfolio includes U.S. Patent No. 8,330,626, entitled “Systems and Methods for Monitoring Location of a Vehicle,” and U.S. Patent No. 9,070,295, entitled “Systems and Methods for Monitoring Location of a Vehicle or Freight Carried by the Vehicle by Correlating the Vehicle or the Freight Carried by the Vehicle to a Communications Device.”
Used with a driver’s mobile phone, including flip phones, or existing in-cab ELD/GPS devices, MacroPoint’s patented location monitoring and tracking software gives third parties load status and location visibility on their shipments. With MacroPoint, brokers, 3PLs and shippers have real-time location tracking, delivery monitoring, and event notifications that enhance the efficiency and profitability of their operations.
