A leader in providing timely and cost-effective walk-in medical services in Fairfax, VA is doing what it can to raise immunization awareness.

Representatives with CareMed Urgent & Primary Care (https://www.caremedurgentcare.com), announced today that the company is in full support of National Immunization Awareness Month, which is the month of August.

“Immunization helps prevent dangerous and sometimes deadly diseases. To stay protected against serious illnesses like the flu, measles, and pneumonia, adults need to get their shots – just like kids do,” said Dr. Vipul Mangal, M.D., co-owner and spokesman for CareMed Urgent & Primary Care. “CareMed is dedicated to raising immunization awareness and helping people take control of their health to prevent disease and ensure a longer, healthier life.”

National Immunization Awareness Month, according to Dr. Mangal, is a great time to raise awareness of the benefits of vaccines and remind family, friends, and coworkers to stay up to date on their shots.

Dr. Mangal stressed that CareMed is committed to doing everything it can to help educate the public while dispelling many common misconceptions associated with immunization practices.

Ways to raise awareness, Dr. Mangal said, include: Talking to friends and family members about how vaccines aren’t just for kids; Encouraging people in your community to keep their vaccines up to date and, especially to get the flu vaccine every year; Inviting a doctor or nurse to speak to parents about why it’s important for all kids to get vaccinated.

“People of all ages can get shots to protect them from serious diseases,” Dr. Mangal said on behalf of his company, which offers immunizations for all ages in its clinic, which is located in Fairfax near Fair Oaks in Virginia.

“We encourage patients to call or make an appointment online to see a healthcare provider to discuss their vaccination needs,” Dr. Mangal said, before adding, “The current immunization schedule for children: can be viewed at: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/easy-to-read/child.html; The immunization schedule for adults can be viewed at: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/schedules/easy-to-read/adult.html.
