“Our partnership with The Asylum is a natural collaboration, they produce entertainment and we deliver it. “ Said Manuel Madriz, General Manager of MEM-CE, the exclusive licensee of the Memorex brand for the US, Canada and Mexico.

Attention tech lovers and zombie fans: MEM-CE, the exclusive licensee of the Memorex brand for Consumer Electronics, and The Asylum, one of the world's leading brand-oriented motion picture and television studios, today announced a partnership and product integration in the critically acclaimed action-horror series Z Nation, which returns to Syfy in September.

Z Nation follows a band of survivors three years after the zombie apocalypse as they transport the only known survivor of the zombie virus from New York to California.

Through the partnership, Z Nation fans will see Memorex product appearances throughout episodes in season 2 of the series. The products receiving a cameo appearance in the program will be identified on retail packaging “as seen on Z Nation.” Products carrying the Z Nation Logo will begin appearing on packages this fall in time for the holiday gift-giving season.

“Our partnership with The Asylum is a natural collaboration, they produce entertainment and we deliver it. “ Said Manuel Madriz, General Manager of MEM-CE, the exclusive licensee of the Memorex brand for the US, Canada and Mexico.

The partnership was created in conjunction with MEM-CE’s “Professor” campaign, an episodic series of 30-second interruptive announcements on PANDORA Internet Radio, ostensibly transmitted through time from the year 2071. Each episode urges millennials to bring down The Evil Empire of unnamed high-priced CE brands with the battle cry, “Save the World! Memorex Lives!” The campaign also urges millennials to “Join the Resistance” by only buying fairly priced Memorex products that deliver the same level of entertainment for less than what the premium brands are demanding.

Stay tuned for this fall’s most innovative UGC contest. MEM-CE, together with The Asylum and New York based creative agency MagicBullet Media, are launching a contest designed to connect tech lovers, creatives and zombie lovers with the head of The Resistance. MagicBullet Media has years of experience in launching highly successful UGC contests, such as the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl, Lay’s Do Us a Flavor, and Bath & Body Works’ myPocketBac label design contest.

The overarching strategy is to raise brand awareness among millennials who were born too late to remember Ella Fitzgerald’s glass shattering commercials that gained popularity in the 1970’s and 1980’s prompting consumers to question, “Is it live, or is it Memorex?”

“We intend to build a fan base and position ourselves as the brand that has a sense of humor, believes in delivering high-quality entertainment technologies at affordable prices and is the brand that this generation can count on for continuous fun.” Said Manuel Madriz.
