Read Conmigo Summers Story Collection Helps Families Transition Back to School
MIAMI, FL (PRWEB) July 29, 2015 -- There’s still time for summer reading before kids head back to school. And Read Conmigo, the award-winning bilingual literacy campaign for children sponsored by Infinity Auto Insurance, is pleased to announce the two latest digital books from its reading collection, “Un Regalo Nuevo para Violeta” (Violet’s New Gift) and “Cristina Cabral descubre su Pasión” (Cristina Cabral Finds Her Passion). The latest additions to Read Conmigo’s catalog are available in digital form to students, parents and teachers who are signed up for the program.
In “Un Regalo Nuevo para Violeta,” Violet learns the importance of friendship. The tale also explores how technology can get in the way of friendships. “Cristina Cabral descubre su Pasión” tells the story of Cristina’s summer adventure with her friends. By participating in her friends’ favorite summer activities, Cristina discovers her own passion in time for the Summer Sizzle Talent Show.
“The social lessons in these books are particularly timely as parents prepare kids to go back to school,” said Glen Godwin, senior vice president of Business Development. Infinity welcomes parents, guardians and teachers to visit the Read Conmigo website and explore a wide variety of activities and resources that promote bilingual literacy. Each book comes with a set of comprehension questions that reinforce fundamental reading concepts.
PBS Parents offer these summer reading tips to encourage children to read and promote a positive attitude towards reading and writing:
• Pick reading material relating to summer activities for the child to complete.
• Read a book that has been made into a movie and share the similarities and differences between them.
• Check out the events taking place at your local library.
• Start a book club with your child’s friends and parents. During play dates, the children can share what their favorite part of the book was.
• Involve your child in planning your family vacation by reading books about the history of the destination, the people, etc.
• Choose a reading theme for the summer, before starting school, to help your child become an expert on the subject matter.
• Sign up for a reading service subscription, like Read Conmigo, to maintain your child’s interest in reading.
ReadConmigo.org hosts one of the nation’s few completely bilingual online libraries, with downloadable e-books compatible with computers, tablets and smart phones. Read Conmigo also recently launched its newest free interactive app, Mary la Mariposa and her Friends, which allows young children to read at a pace with which they are comfortable or they can follow along as the app reads to them in both English and Spanish.
