Author Georgia Verble Herren has spent most of her life in the kitchen, trying different recipes, creating her own and cooking Southern meals. In “Hey Mom, What’s for Supper?” (published by Xlibris), she reveals a collection of mouth-watering recipes to help readers along in brandishing their magic in the kitchen.
This cookbook features 600 delicious recipes of old favorites, such as corn bread dressing, chicken and dumplings, sweet potato pie, jam cake, angel food cake and boiled custard. These enticing dishes graced family tables on Thanksgiving and Christmas every year and were passed from generation to generation. The other recipes in the cookbook are from the collections of family, friends and Herren’s original dishes. They are for everyone who enjoys tasty, flavorful meals and down home cooking.
“Hopefully, it will inspire young people to become good cooks and bring renewed enthusiasm for experienced cooks, especially in replacing fast food with savory home cooking,” Herren says. “I worked, raised a family and always had a hot breakfast and dinner on the table. If I can do this, you can too.”
It is the author’s belief that a good meal prepared is a precious gift from a mother to her family and friends. “Hey Mom, What’s for Supper?” is something that one’s children and grandchildren will remember and hold close to their hearts.
