Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) August 03, 2015
Abacus Wealth Partners (http://www.abacuswealth.com) and Alan Moore (http://www.alanmoorefinancial.com) have entered into an agreement to work together on an initiative to expand Abacus’s zero asset minimum, monthly subscription financial planning program, called Essential Planning. Alan will join Abacus as the Champion for NextGen and will focus on training advisors and developing new techniques and strategies for bringing financial planning to both the next generations as well as older people who haven’t built up enough assets to qualify to work with financial planners who require a high investment account minimum. Alan will also bring his clients from his RIA, Serenity Financial Consulting, to Abacus.
Alan will continue to operate the XY Planning Network independently, and Abacus will join the XY Planning Network as the first Founding Corporate Member, working with XYPN to expand their corporate membership program to bring a profitable NextGen-friendly service model to large fee-only RIAs.
Abacus has been working to democratize access to financial planning since 2003. They have consistently lowered their investment minimums every few years and expanded financial planning services for people without assets. They launched the Essential Planning program in 2014, at around the same time that XY Planning Network opened its doors. “Alan is very passionate about serving the next generation to help them build their assets and meet their goals, and Abacus will be a great place for him to experiment and expand what’s possible under a monthly retainer pricing model,” said J.D. Bruce, President of Abacus.
“While a lot of firms say they want to engage next generation clients, the majority prefer to wait until those young consumers inherit money from their parents,” said Alan Moore. He went on to note that Abacus has shown a passion for bringing financial planning to an entire generation of clients that have been completely ignored by traditional firms, and are showing that these clients can be served profitably.
“While many firms have given lip service to providing financial planning to younger clients, their business models are still focused primarily on managing assets, which simply isn’t the focal point of financial planning for young people,” said Michael Kitces, co-founder of XYPN. “The key is to build a segmented service model specifically dedicated to young people, and the financial planning issues that are relevant to them. They’re excited to grow the corporate membership program for XYPN to show more large independent RIAs how to execute this strategy and leverage their available resources.”
The mission of Abacus is to expand what’s possible with money. People have said that a low monthly retainer model for financial planning wouldn’t work. With 100 advisors as members, XYPN has proven them wrong. Now people say that only young start-up advisors can provide that service and that it doesn’t work at scale. “Now, Abacus, with Alan’s help, will prove that this kind of service is not only possible to provide at scale, but critical to improve the financial health of our clients, our communities and our nation,” concluded Mr. Bruce.
