SAE International has won the 2015 Innovation of the Year Award for Learner Engagement from the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) for its “Applied Vehicle Dynamics” course.

The IACET Innovation of the Year Award - Learner Engagement recognizes the "best-of-the-best" in engagement and the classroom learning environment.

Applied Vehicle Dynamics” is a three-day course that teaches automotive engineers fundamental vehicle handling concepts through a combination of lecture and hands-on driving exercises. While the principal instructor, a highly regarded vehicle dynamics engineer, delivers most of the lecture material, several other engineer-driving instructors handle small guest-lecture slots. Lecture is heavily sprinkled with CarSim-generated animations and constant Q&A, which further enhances learner interactivity.

“The uniqueness of this course stems from both James Walker’s engaging teaching style and the in-car driving exercises that provide the engineering and the performance driving perspectives. Being able to conduct the course at a facility like the BMW Performance Center further enhances the experience. We’re gratified that an organization like IACET recognized the learner value and innovation in this course design,” said Kevin Perry, Global Manager, Professional Development, SAE International

Award recipients will be honored at an reception on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Gleacher Center in Chicago.
