CHL Academy Names First Hispanic Leader of the Month: Daniel Rivera of CVS Health
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2015 -- Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL) Academy, the talent development and career advancement platform for 21st century leadership, has named its first Hispanic Leader of the Month in a new program being featured on its web site. Daniel Rivera was recognized for his outstanding leadership and accomplishments as Senior Director, Product Flow & Supply Chain, at CVS Health (NYSE: CVS), the pharmacy innovation company with more than 7,800 retail pharmacies and 900 plus walk-in medical clinics.
A goal-driven executive with dynamic presence, Rivera has more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions of increasing and varied responsibility. His wide-ranging leadership background comprises front line distribution and logistics, operations, supply chain planning and analytics, retail operations, business development, industrial engineering and Omni Channel / e-Commerce / technical support.
According to CHL Academy founder Glenn Llopis, “A leader’s authenticity is measured by the success of those that he or she is leading. Daniel is known for his integrity, strategic thinking, cross functional leadership, and commitment to organizational and community values. As such, he has excelled in multiple strategic and leadership roles where he spearheaded significant performance and profitability improvements by delivering or exceeding business objectives, improving execution levels, and recruiting and developing high performance teams.”
In his current role, Rivera has full responsibility over collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment, which accounts for more than 50% of the annual inventory spend at CVS Health. He is also responsible for reverse logistics, seasonal and new item allocations, business systems support – including Master Data Management (MDM) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) – and speed-to-market launches. In fact, based on his speed-to-market strategy, Rivera was recognized with the CVS Breakthrough award for innovative solutions within his first six months at the company. Additionally, Rivera is a member of the Omni Channel committee that develops Omni Channel and flexible fulfillment strategies.
As Hispanic Leader of the Month, Rivera and his accomplishments are featured on the CHL Academy home page, and he also has his own micro-page on the site where he shares the influence of his Hispanic heritage on his life and career success, including: what he stands for as a leader; what he most admires about Hispanic culture; what his parents taught him about leadership; the mentors who helped him along the way; his personal brand as a leader; and his advice to other Hispanic professionals. This is complemented by a full length article which details how his corporate leadership journey has been guided by his Hispanic heritage and values.
“The CHL Academy experience was in a way a coming of age moment for me,” says Rivera. “I never really gave much thought to the idea that my Hispanic heritage had been so instrumental in my personal journey through corporate America. CHL Academy has afforded me, for the first time in my professional career, an opportunity to personally delve into, and conclusively identify, the genesis of my ability to lead. Though I have always been proud of my heritage, my experience with CHL Academy has shown me that a focused approach towards leveraging the strengths of my heritage will refine my leadership abilities and personal brand for years to come.”
Explaining the decision to recognize Rivera, Llopis said: “I believe the essence of being an authentic leader is largely related to building trust through genuine interactions with others. Leadership is based on credibility and integrity. Interpersonal relationships built on trust and reliability have solid and long lasting foundations that benefit all involved. Daniel exemplifies all of these qualities and that is why CHL Academy is proud to name him as our very first Hispanic Leader of the Month.”
