Within the pages of Barbara L. Vanderstel’s new book, Front Porch Tales ($10.99, paperback, 9781498407731; $5.99, e-book, 9781498407748), readers will be given an inside look into living on a farm from the author’s childhood memories. Illustrated by her husband, Bill Vanderstel, Barbara also recalls being able to endure several hardships in life through the love and strength of God, which she hopes inspires readers to seek the same protection and comfort from God as well.

“There are some great memories shared throughout this book; the memories and stories give readers a lot of insight into what the day-to-day life looks like for those who have grown up on a farm,” states the author. “Books are very important and are written to touch people of every age in different ways. I want my readers to know ‘All things are possible with God’.”

Front Porch Tales characterizes Barbara’s impeccable memory of her life on the farm, from birth to age thirteen. She then began working to raise tuition to attend city high school, aided by strong morals and values from her parents. Barbara’s testimony includes regaining lost eyesight and becoming a Christian in the same year of 1996, getting a diploma from the Institute of Children’s Literature in Connecticut and recovering from a mini-stroke in 2014: all considered by Barbara as blessings from God. “The greatest thing you can leave your children is your legacy; this is mine,” she concludes.
