Bethlehem, PA (PRWEB) August 07, 2015
Active Data, a Lehigh Valley based software company that builds event community platforms for the education, healthcare, government and enterprise markets worldwide, is pleased to announce David Van Allen, successful entrepreneur and software industry expert, as part of Active Data’s executive team. Van Allen serves as the company’s Vice President of Products, overseeing the development of their newest SaaS product, Active Calendar.
“I’m delighted to welcome David Van Allen to the Active Data team,” said Susan Yee, Active Data CEO. “Since launching our cloud-based calendar solution, Active Calendar, our company has seen significant growth. I look forward to building on this forward momentum with the help of David’s expertise and support.”
About David Van Allen
Van Allen, who was credited in 1992 with starting and running FASTNET – one of the world’s first Internet Service Providers (ISP), will provide more than 35 years of business experience to Active Data.
David has started a number of companies, which allowed him to acquire a varied and unique skill-set that includes electrical engineering, computer programming and marketing. In 2002, David left the technology industry to explore opportunities in healthcare starting an industrial medicine program for Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. By the end of the decade, David was managing the third largest 911 service in Pennsylvania, and was active on boards and councils that would steer legislation and health laws in the Commonwealth. During his time in healthcare he received the 2010 Jerry Esposito Commonwealth of Pennsylvania EMS Administrator of the Year award.
David later returned to technology in 2010 to capitalize on the emergence of Cloud Computing, joining international cloud and hosting company INetU as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and later leading the Operations and Client Services portion of the business.
“Sue and her team at Active Data are perfectly positioned to benefit from everyone and anyone’s disposable time as a currency through our evolving event community software products,” said Van Allen. “What excited me about this opportunity was the gap we can fill for people who are looking for interesting ways to use their free time. This is something that the classic social sites have ignored. We’re hot on the trail of this now and I’m enthused to be leading the product evolution process here.”
David lives near Allentown, PA where he remains active as a volunteer paramedic and president of the board for a non-profit organization that provides medical communications for ambulances to reach hospital command physicians. David is an instrument rated private pilot. He and his wife Kathy rescue dogs from kill shelters through the organization Pilots n' Paws in their free time.
