Maryland SPCA Names New Executive Director
Baltimore, Maryland (PRWEB) August 04, 2015 -- After an extensive nationwide search, the Maryland SPCA Board of Directors announces the selection of a new executive director. Byron Logan, who was the director of corporate and national outreach at North Shore Animal League America, will officially take the helm of the MD SPCA on August 24, 2015. Former Executive Director Aileen Gabbey left the position she held for close to 20 years in July to relocate to Georgia with her family.
“We were very diligent and thorough in our search for a new executive director who had the experience, leadership and passion to continue the path Aileen carved to expand more programs and services to help even more pets and people in our community,” said Elizabeth Drigotas, president of the Maryland SPCA’s board of directors. “Byron’s wealth of experience, strong leadership and deep passion to animal welfare will be a tremendous asset to the Maryland SPCA.”
Logan served as the director of corporate and national outreach at North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington, New York for the last eight years where he was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with corporations, corporate foundations, and animal welfare organizations.
“I’m really excited to be part of an organization that has a long history of improving the lives of pets and people in Baltimore and surrounding communities,” said Byron Logan. “I’m truly inspired by the staff, volunteers and board, and am eager to meet and work with members of the community, other shelters and corporate leaders to continue the good work of the Maryland SPCA."
During Logan’s nine-year tenure at North Shore Animal League America, he managed and maintained a three-year exclusive sponsorship with Nestle Purina Pet Care Company valued at $2.1 million; secured $1.3 million in corporate support for Adopt-a-pet.com, North Shore Animal League America’s web portal partner; and lead the training program for the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum, a humane education program used in 3,000 schools across the country. Prior to this position, Logan managed the major gifts and planned giving for the organization.
A native of Bronx, New York, Logan will be re-locating to Baltimore with his wife Aretha, a veteran New York City corrections officer, two daughters Maya and Caprice, and his seven-year-old Yorkshire Terrier Madison.
