NFI, a leading supply chain company headquartered in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, has been awarded the New Jersey Motor Truck Association’s (NJMTA) Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety award. With nearly 3,000 drivers across the company, NFI is committed to safety in N.J. and throughout North America.

Honoring fleet safety across N.J., the NJMTA recognized outstanding transportation companies at an awards banquet this summer. Member companies were ranked in categories based on how many miles their trucks drove within the state in the past year. With an accident frequency per million miles of .42%, NFI ranked in 1st place in the over 5,000,000 miles category.

“We are very proud of the efforts our drivers are making to stay safe on the road,” says Sid Brown, NFI CEO. “Our company is committed to providing safety training for drivers and investing in modernized equipment that can help prevent accidents.”

Continuously improving its safety initiative, NFI is committed to providing new equipment to drivers. The company is regularly updating trucks and purchasing new models with the latest safety features, like rear end avoidance collision and stability control. Across its 2,000+ truck fleet, NFI has started to implement the DriveCam program which has enabled the transportation provider to further enhance its safety training programs.

NFI has a history of outstanding participation with the NJMTA. Currently Lee Robledo, SVP Safety at NFI, is a member of the NJMTA board. He works year-round for the organization, participating in legislation campaigns to better the trucking industry.

NFI also had three truck drivers compete in the NJMTA Truck Driving Championships on June 26th, 2015. Truck drivers Otis Miller, Julio Cardoba, and George Lapp competed in safe driving and maneuverability exercises against drivers from around the state. To qualify for the competition, each driver had to have a record clear of accidents in the last year.
