Business App Developers Excited about DataFlex 2015
Miami, FL (PRWEB) August 11, 2015 -- Data Access Worldwide has released DataFlex 2015, the latest version of company's flagship rapid application development platform for web, mobile and Windows business applications. Early adopters are excited about their development successes with the latest features.
"The new DataFlex mobile framework is just fantastic,” says Peter Bragg, lead developer at Care Data Systems in the UK, whose donorflex software application, recently awarded as “Britain’s Best Charity CRM Database Supplier” for a second time in three years by the United Kingdom Institute of Fundraising. Used by the not-for-profit sector in the UK as a fundraising and CRM tool, donorflex is currently a Windows-only product written in DataFlex 18.0.
“The fact that I could take our existing application of over 20 years Windows-only development and within less than a day be demonstrating how key data from that application could be brought up on a mobile device and amended as necessary is testament to just what a fantastic tool DataFlex 2015/18.1 really is... Time is money and the new mobile framework is going to save me heaps!”
Once Matthias Burkhardt of software firm DATA PROJECT GmbH in Germany saw presentations about the new mobile extensions in the DataFlex Framework, he immediately went to work building and deploying mobile support for the company’s flagship Windows and Web application, IBIS.
IBIS manages the attendance, food-management and food-distribution of large social institutions, one of which alone takes care of 1,100 elderly, 1,250 kindergarten children, 5,500 mentally and physically challenged people with over 5,000 workers.
“The new WebSetResponsive makes customizing our views a lot easier and adaptable to different mobile devices. The new DataFlex mobile templates give IBIS a nice visual design, which users want from their mobile apps,” says Matthias.
After getting used to the mobile navigation, Matthias says they were able to implement all of their existing IBIS DataFlex browser-based web application views into the new framework, and in doing so, dramatically increased their usability on mobile devices. The DATA PROJECT development team was also able to reuse all of their grid- and list-filling routines from an existing web application with only small adjustments, as well as form-filling routines from their DataFlex Windows desktop program, and sharing code between Windows and web application lists and grids.
“Although we still are in the process of recreating our regular WebApp in the new framework and expanding it,” Matthias says, “we managed to complete about 80% of all our previous web-views (90 files) in just 9 days!”
Veteran USA developer Jim Albright describes himself as a “dedicated DataFlex programmer.” Jim has been using the evolving DataFlex platform for more than 30 years to build and deploy database applications for the clients of his company, Florida-based Wizard Systems, Inc.
“The new DataFlex mobile web application development has surpassed my wildest expectations. Data Access has taken the guess work out of programming for laptops, tablets, and smart phones… The completeness of the programming language and the support of the people at Data Access Worldwide are my two main reasons for sticking with DataFlex,” Jim says, noting that in “less than 4 hours” using the mobile extensions within the new DataFlex Web Framework he was able to write an app for his Android smart phone, Asus tablet, and even for an older Blackberry Playbook (non-Android).
“Hats off to the staff and support personnel for making the jump to these devices exceptionally easy and trouble free,” Jim says.
Peter van Mil of the Dutch firm Appvantage b.v. has built a commercial application for a large real estate agent. He has also used DataFlex 2015 as an internal showcase application for demonstrating to his clients the possibilities with the new SQL connectivity and Data Dictionary improvements delivered in DataFlex 2015.
“For me as a developer, DataFlex 2015 is an evolution and it is a revolution -- that is, enhanced connectivity and the new mobile framework... I love the support for native SQL datatypes in the new DataFlex 2015 Studio... With the new mobile extensions in the DataFlex Framework, developers can build really distinctive applications.”
