US National Beach Championships Coming to Hickory Point Beach, Lake County, FL
Tavares, FL (PRWEB) August 11, 2015 -- The Florida Region of USA Volleyball is getting excited to host the top amateur adult athletes from across the United States at the 2015 US National Beach Championships (USNBC) at Hickory Point Beach! This event will be sanctioned by USA Volleyball and ranked nationally on USABeachRanking.org.
The event will be held September 12th – 13th, 2015 and will consist of adult play divisions AA, A, BB, and B. On Saturday, September 12th, Adult men and women will compete in pool play, followed by a single elimination playoff. On Sunday, September 13th, co-ed adults will compete in pool play followed by a single elimination playoff.
In conjunction with the USNBC, Hickory Point Beach has also been finalized as the North American, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Continental Tour stop for the United States. This event will be held September 11th-13th and consists of 32 international teams (16 men/16 women) from across the NORCECA Confederation, which includes 35 member countries from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Steve Bishop, Executive Director and President of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, said, “This combination of events is a perfect opportunity for amateur beach volleyball athletes to play in a national championship event while watching the only NORCECA international beach event in the USA. With four adult divisions (AA/A/BB/B) in the US National Beach Championships, beach athletes will be able to find a division that fits their talent level while enjoying all of the amenities of Hickory Point Beach, a hidden gem in Lake County. Amenities include free parking, top quality white sand, permanent restroom facilities, outdoor showers, picnic tables throughout, a playground for children, music, food trucks, a nearby full-service resort and professional net systems with pads & antennas on every court. Additionally, the downtown Tavares waterfront district will play host to nightly players parties for attendees. We look forward to hosting the world at Hickory Point Beach!”
There are volunteer opportunities available for anyone who is interested. Some volunteer tasks include scorekeeping, ball shagging, court raking and much more. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, free food & drink, player autographs and the opportunity to socialize with International beach volleyball athletes. Hickory Point Beach, completed early July 2014, is officially Florida’s largest single-site beach volleyball complex. The Florida Region partnered with Lake County, FL and Lake County Water Authority to jointly build the project on the 68-acre Hickory Point Recreational Complex, next to Lake Harris. This state-of-the-art facility offers professional level net systems, stadium quality lighting, a professional speaker/intercom system, antennas & pads on every court, short court lines, 24 inches of top quality washed white sand, 20 feet minimum between courts (side-to-side) and 35 feet minimum between courts (end-to-end.)
Additional amenities available at the complex include free parking onsite, permanent restrooms, beautiful views of Lake Harris, a children’s playground, outdoor showers near courts, a nature trail, a swimming area, BBQ grills with picnic table, a free boat ramp with dock access and much more.
