More than 40 million Americans live in food-insecure households, totaling 17.5 million households that are food-insecure.

Leading M&A advisory firm Ahern & Associates is reporting a rapidly growing amount of support from the transportation industry in reference to donations made to the St. Mary’s Food Bank. Andy Ahern, the CEO and Founder of the advisory firm, is in his 17th year as an avid supporter of the world’s first and largest food bank. He is also a Hunger Hero, and his firm has raised more than $1 million in food for St. Mary’s to date. Ahern & Associates devotes its time and energy to helping families with small children and the elderly throughout the year, and the biannual fundraising drive for St. Mary’s is just one of many events that Ahern & Associates participates in regularly.

St. Mary’s Food Bank is a first emergency responder for catastrophes throughout the United States; every dollar that is donated equates to $7.00 worth of food that feeds the hungry. The food bank sends a wide variety of much-needed items to disaster areas that include infant formula, ready-to-eat meals for disaster workers, meal packages, water, emergency supplies, personal hygiene items, and more to victims of earthquakes, tornadoes, tropical storms, and other disasters across the country.

More than 40 million Americans live in food-insecure households, totaling 17.5 million households that are food-insecure. Food insecurity ranges from a low of 4% in some areas of North Dakota to a high of 33% in certain Mississippi counties. “The fact that the transportation industry and owners of trucking companies all over the United States and overseas are donating sends a statement that many people do care about those less fortunate,” says Andy Ahern.

Whether families have been victims of a catastrophe, they have experienced a financially-crippling major illness in the family, or they are trying to just earn a better living, St. Mary’s Food Bank responds. “I have been involved in many worthwhile causes throughout my career,” explains Andy Ahern. “I have am involved with several other non-profits that support those in need. However, St. Mary’s embraces all nationalities, colors, and race, and focuses on one fundamental process: combating hunger,” he says.

Those who are interested in donating to St. Mary’s Food Bank can do so directly online via the St. Mary’s Food Bank website. They can also donate in care of Ahern & Associates.
