Thousands of plastic totes purchased from will be used to ship millions of books to schools in Indonesia as part of a government project working to help children learn to read.

The initiative is being funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is part of the organization’s PRIORITAS project in Indonesia. USAID awarded Strategic Communications, Inc. (StratComm) the contract to print and distribute 7.5 million leveled reading books to schools in Indonesia.

StratComm will assemble more than 12,000 kits that will each contain 615 books. More than 24,000 totes purchased from will then be used to ship the books oversees. The containers will be distributed among 11,000 Indonesian schools and help nearly 4 million children learn to read.

Part of StratComm’s responsibilities included selecting a company to purchase shipping materials. Officials with StratComm say they prefer to work with US based small business partners, like, to ensure government dollars are reinvested in the American economy.

SpaceSavers fit the bill as a company and with its product offerings.

“The totes have a unique water resistant seal and were chosen due to their size, premium quality, sturdy construction and Midwest USA based manufacturing facility,” David Sears an employee with StratComm said.

Barb Rawson, a sales specialist with SpaceSavers has been working with StratComm since March. She says SpaceSavers will ship seven truckloads of plastic totes to the company to use for the project.

“It’s exciting, knowing our containers will be used for such honest, good work,” Rawson said. “We know our bins will deliver the books safely so children can learn and enjoy reading.”

Following the delivery of the books, USAID/PRIORITAS will offer training to teachers and principals to ensure the books are being used in the best, most productive way possible. The project will benefit students in grades 1-4 over a five year period. is an online retailer that sells home storage solutions.
