Fox Chase Bank Charitable Foundation Grants $15,000 To Support Local Organizations
Hatboro, PA (PRWEB) August 12, 2015 -- During June and July, Fox Chase Bank Charitable Foundation donated $5,000 to each of these local organizations: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic & Cape May Counties; Chester County Food Bank; and the YWCA of Bucks County.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic & Cape May Counties has been serving vulnerable local youth since 2003. The organization provides young people with a professionally supported 1-to-1 mentoring match – giving them the opportunity to thrive. The $5,000 donation provided by Fox Chase Bank Charitable Foundation will fund five new matches.
“The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Atlantic & Cape May Counties is an important program that provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one–to–one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever,” states Tom Petro, Chairman of the Fox Chase Bank Charitable Foundation. “We are proud that the foundation is able to support their efforts to help youth in our communities.”
Not a typical food bank, the Chester County Food Bank responds to the growing issues of hunger and poverty through innovative programs. In addition to distributing non-perishable foods, the organization also focuses on fresh locally grown food that provides the most nutrients. CCFB also implements a multi-faceted nutrition education program – Eat Fresh!
“Chester County Food Bank is committed to addressing hunger and poverty in our communities through innovative programming. In addition to feeding the hungry, CCFB works with schools, feeding agencies and the community to provide the means and motivation for children and their families to make sound food choices,” noted Mr. Petro. “We’re honored that the foundation is able to continue helping this organization because we believe, like CCFB, that providing food is only part of the solution to hunger.”
The Foundation’s $5,000 grant to the YWCA of Bucks County will enable the organization to extend and enhance the YWCA Financial Literacy for Adults programming. The programming helps diverse, disadvantaged and financially-challenged individuals gain the practical knowledge and skills they need to become more independent and self-sufficient as they strive to build better lives for themselves and their families.
“We’re pleased that the foundation is able to support this organization because for more than 60 years it has been helping underserved and at-risk families overcome the barriers they face in attaining a true and lasting economic independence,” states Mr. Petro. “Our goal at Fox Chase Bank is to help all people achieve financial freedom. We achieve this through Save! America – a program that consists of a plan presented in a book co-written by me and my wife – and tips shared on our blog, Facebook and Google+ pages.”
