Art Contest: Near the end of the 2014/2015 school year the Austin, San Antonio and Portland Aquariums sponsored an art contest where scholarships and prize money in excess of $23,000 of were recently given away. For any students who missed it, this will become an annual event.
Autism Awareness: A free play date for kids with autism was recently hosted at the Austin Aquarium. With hundreds in attendance, special staff and signs were created to cater to the special needs of the children. Group hosts pointed out the value of a private environment, which enabled the children to enjoy themselves without concern of public distractions.
