Announcing Swipecast iOS – a New Marketplace for Models, Designers, Photographers and Stylists
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 12, 2015 -- Swipecast (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/swipecast/id988583579?mt=8), a new iPhone app which enables photographers, designers, stylists and retailers to book models directly via their smartphone, today announced immediate availability in the iTunes store. By connecting female and male models directly with clients, go-sees and job bookings can now be set up in real-time. Now, the fashion industry has a secure platform where they can connect, communicate and even transact, anywhere...anytime.
“Swipecast targets up-and-coming designers and indie magazines who need modeling talent while lowering the costs of hiring talent by 30% or more,” said Peter Fitzpatrick, Swipecast’s Founder. “Models get paid right away, rather than waiting 60-90 days to be paid by traditional agencies.”
"Swipecast is a very interesting new app for the modeling market,” said photographer Ellen von Unwerth, whose work appears regularly in Vogue Italia and Vogue Japan. “Since we do a lot of our own casting, we are looking forward to using it as a tool to find new modeling talent."
With Swipecast, clients and models are curated through a rigorous review process. Ratings and recommended pricing help ensure an efficient marketplace. Once a model is confirmed, booking fees are held in escrow until the job is complete. An in-depth rating system holds both parties accountable for professionalism while multi-step verification means that no client is ever anonymous or unvetted.
Photographers and designers looking to book through Swipecast can pay for a model by their day rate, hourly, or in certain cases, through trade. Trade allows designers to use their apparel and accessories to pay talent for a photoshoot.
By providing a booking solution that avoids competing with traditional agencies, Swipecast will become a “go to” solution for both newer and established models without local representation, as well as a way for models with prominent social media profiles to be contacted and paid by clients.
“With Swipecast I like that you are able to chat directly with the model before working with them,” said stylist Katie Burnett. “For me it allows a better sense of what she will be like before and editorial or job.”
Fitzpatrick, the Founder of Silent Models NY and a former financial services executive, has built a core team of fashion insiders and tech veterans based in NYC. Co-Founder Matthias Wickenburg, Swipecast’s Head of Technology, is a Harvard engineering graduate and previously built data visualization software for Bridgewater Associates. Derrick Leung, the Company’s Creative Director, previously redesigned V Magazine's website, created campaigns for Gant Rugger and created content for the LVMH-owned website, Nowness. Dan Rockenbach, Swipecast’s Head of Growth, is a former Google Executive, where he focused on marketing strategy and developing new partnership opportunities.
