Children Near-Death Experiences - IANDS Webinar with PMH Atwater
San Antonio, Texas (PRWEB) August 13, 2015 -- How does a near death experience(nde) effect a child? How can it be recognized that a child has had an nde? It's known the nde is different for children than it is for adults. Adults have societal reference points to help guide them as they process their nde. Children are still developing their value systems and don't always know what's acceptable in society. Experiencers, both children and adults, return convinced of certain truths. This can be very confusing to a child, when what they are being taught by adults, is in conflict to the lessons they learned during their nde. This experience will shape the child experiencer for life. To fit in or often times at the instruction of adults, the child experiencer can not, or is not allowed to, talk about their experience.

Dr. Atwater, is a near death experiencer herself, and is one of the original researchers in the field of near-death studies. She began her examination of the phenomenon in 1978 and has completed 11 books on her findings. To date, her work covers nearly 4,000 adult and child experiencers. As she has traveled the world, she is always inviting people to look past appearances for the truth that underlies what we think we know. Dr. Atwater will be one of the featured speakers at this years' annual International Association of Near Death Studies(IANDS) conference in San Antonio. Her presentation "Glimpses of Beyond," will include drawings from child and adult experiencers from six countries - what they saw, what they felt and what they experienced.
Also at the IANDS conference, Dr. Atwater will present "Markers: How to Recognize Very Young Children Who May Have Had a Near-Death Experience." No matter where you are, who you talk with, what group you attend, child experiencers stand out as different from adult experiencers, according to Dr. Atwater. She goes on to say, "it doesn't matter what age they are now, 40 or 65 - if they had their experience as at child, they are forever different." But those who had their near-death episode while in the womb, at birth, as a baby or toddler, up to the age of five, are even more unique. She has already researched children for many years and this subject has a particular fascination for Dr. Atwater. The book that details her initial findings is THE NEW CHILDREN AND NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES. She's going back with a new research project, reprising her original work, only this time she is focusing entirely on the youngest of the young. She finds this to be the most unique group of near-death experiencers. She is currently looking for volunteers to help her with this study. Many experiencers, especially child experiencers are reluctant to share this information. Some of the "markers" she has found with these special children are: marked behavior differences afterward, such as the child may be ahead of or different from age mates and becoming more so as years pass, as well as taking on a more nontraditional or nonconformist attitude. Parental bonding may not occur or the child may grow up feeling somehow "alien." He or she may be possessed of a charm or charisma that attracts birds, animals or people. He or she may also appear someway backward socially when young, while still being unusually intelligent, creative and bold. Unafraid of death, highly intuitive, aware of things future, these kids possess an almost obsessive drive to accomplish a particular task or project - boredom at school is often an issue. A few historical figures that match all the conditions for a near-death experience as a child, plus the full list of markers, are : Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, Black Elk(the Lakota Sioux medicine man), Queen Elizabeth I, and Edgar Cayce(the most documented psychic in history, credited with being the originator of the Holistic Healing Movement).
