Magma, a manufacture of high performance computing expansion solutions, has added David Raun to its board of advisors. Raun, a long time high tech executive, adds his over 30 years of experience bringing new technologies to market, to Magma’s board. His knowledge and insights will be important as Magma refines its strategies to leverage its PCI Express core competencies and drive growth in high performance computing and big data applications according to Magma president, Tim Miller.
“Magma is creating exciting new technologies for enterprise and cloud applications by harnessing the computing power GPUs, arrays of solid state storage and peripherals in more efficient ways,” said David Raun, Magma board advisor. “I’m pleased to be able to join Magma’s board at an exciting time in the company’s development and assist where I can as they move into new and fast growing markets.”
Raun spent 10 years in various executive positions at PLX Technology (PLX), the leader in PCI Express switch semiconductors, becoming President & CEO in 2012. PLX’s products were used by Cisco, Juniper, EMC, NetApp, HP, Dell and Huawei as well as many of the large cloud companies. Ultimately, Raun managed the acquisition of PLX by Avago Technologies in 2014, becoming Avago’s VP & GM of Express Switching within the Data Center Solutions Group.
“David’s impressive background and experience in the PCI Express switching and server industry make his addition to our board incredibly valuable,” said Randy Jones, Magma CEO. “We are looking forward to working with David and to the positive impact he will have on our business.”
