MRM Group Releases New Program for Graduate Medical Education Departments
Hartford, CT (PRWEB) August 14, 2015 -- MRM Group, LLC, a leading national provider of healthcare risk management and patient safety solutions, today announced the release of a new education program designed specifically for training residents and fellows in managing risk and improving patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes. The program is also designed to closely align with the CLER (Clinical Learning Environment Review) focus areas and pathways, helping support successful CLER site visits and optimize the clinical learning environment.
The MRM Group program successfully completed its two-year pilot at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, which played a collaborative role in the curriculum development. It is offered by UConn as the “Quality and Patient Safety Certificate Program”, providing live and online risk and patient safety education to 15 residency programs and 15 fellowship programs, and it is now being broadly implemented at additional MRM Group client sites.
“The Quality and Patient Safety Certificate Program is a vitally important component of our residency training,” said Wendy Miller, MD, quality and safety education officer at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. “The new program has been extremely well-received and builds upon the highly-successful program we have had in place with MRM Group since 2008.”
Among the unique aspects of the new MRM Group program is its close alignment with the goals of the ACGME’s Next Accreditation System (NAS) and with the CLER focus areas and pathways. Recently developed by the ACGME, the CLER program has garnered broad attention by the GME community, as institutions continue to sharpen their focus on preparing physicians to meet the challenges of a rapidly-evolving healthcare environment.
Dr. Miller continued, “For UConn, the CLER program serves as a set of guidelines to which our training program is designed to meet or exceed. Our program with MRM Group plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal, as it addresses most of the focus areas established by the ACGME.”
“Since its inception, MRM Group has dedicated itself to providing truly innovative education solutions that address the latest challenges faced by all areas of the healthcare ecosystem,” said Kevin W. Kelly, MRM Group’s president and CEO. “Graduate medical education programs have a very unique set of needs, and we are pleased to offer a highly-specialized solution explicitly designed to tackle those needs. We believe deeply in the importance of risk and patient safety education during the formative years that residents spend in clinical training, and the measurable results that our GME clients have achieved continue to support this position.”
