Kodiak Names Mike Barney as Director of Public Safety Solutions
Plano, TX (PRWEB) August 13, 2015 -- Kodiak, the leading provider of standards-based broadband push-to-talk (PTT) solutions, is pleased to announce the addition of Mike Barney as Director of Public Safety Solutions. In this critical role, Barney will work with public safety, government agencies and wireless operators to identify opportunities where the reliable, sub-second calling performance of the Kodiak Broadband PTT solution can enhance mission support and ultimately mission critical communications.

In this role, Barney will work with public safety organizations, including FirstNet and Public Safety Communications Research, participating in the definition of the requirements for mission critical PTT communications. Barney will also work with Kodiak ecosystem partners to develop solutions that leverage the continuous network coverage and real-time connectivity delivered by Kodiak-powered PTT services to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of emergency response.
Mike Barney brings more than 25 years of experience in engineering, management, and public safety to his new role. Prior to joining Kodiak, Barney was a Director for the State of Texas, leading the team responsible for the state and local planning effort for the Texas public safety broadband network. Barney’s previous positions include Director of Systems Engineering for General Dynamics C4 Systems business, as well as a number of engineering and product management positions at Motorola. Barney holds a Master’s degree in Homeland Security, with honors, from the American Public University System, and received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University.
