Aggreko Provides Power and Cooling for the 97th PGA Championship
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 13, 2015 -- Aggreko, the global leader in rental power, heating, cooling and oil-free compressed air solutions, is providing temporary power and climate control for the 97th PGA Championship, taking place August 10-16, 2015 at Whistling Straits golf course in Kohler, Wis.
The Aggreko event team designed a power and cooling solution that will allow thousands of golf fans per day to enjoy the event in safety and comfort, while maintaining the integrity and beauty of the surroundings. The sprawling Whistling Straights grounds is located off the shore of Lake Michigan and is comprised of two, 18-hole championship golf courses that provide a challenge to the most elite professional and amateur golfers around the world.
The Aggreko team worked closely with the PGA of America to develop a cost-effective solution. The event utilizes specialized cooling and power equipment built specifically for golf tournaments and significant spectator events. It includes uninterruptible generators operating in parallel - which provide cleaner, quieter and more convenient temporary power than other commonly used generator sets. The cooling system also incorporates chillers and custom-built tent air conditioners.
Powering an event of this magnitude requires a range of Aggreko equipment and manpower, including:
• More than 11 MW of power generators
• 5450 tons of cooling equipment
• 1.4 Miles of duct to get the HVAC Into the tents
• Approximately 43 miles of cable
• A crew of 15 Aggreko technicians for installation and operation
“We are honored to be the selected provider of the PGA Championship for the ninth year and look forward to many more opportunities with them in the future,” said Todd Fasano, event services project manager, Aggreko North America.
