Tempo Semiconductor Inc. Adds Ron Edgerton to its Board of Directors
Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 17, 2015 -- Tempo Semiconductor Inc., (TSI), which delivers essential ultra-low power, high fidelity audio mixed-signal semiconductor solutions to the consumer, PC and industrial market, today announced the addition of Ron Edgerton to its board of directors. Tempo formed as a buy-back of assets that had been a $50 million SigmaTel business until sold to IDT. When Edgerton led SigmaTel, he worked with K. Gozie Ifesinachukwu, who is now Tempo’s president and CEO.
“It is fantastic to be working with Ron again and his direct, relevant experience in our business is invaluable,” said Ifesinachukwu. “Things at Tempo are going great with very positive industry response to our semiconductor solutions. Ron’s involvement will only accelerate our successes.”
Edgerton has over four decades of leadership experience in high tech industries. This experience includes marketing, financial, human resource management, legal and contract management, operations, and general management expertise. He has been part of the leadership teams for two highly successful semiconductor IPO’s - Cyrix as CFO and SigmaTel as CEO, President and Chairman. Edgerton also led iWatt, a digital power IC and Systems technology company, through its IPO-value-sale. Edgerton has turned struggling companies into success stories with a focus on customer driven strategies and highly effective management of superior R&D teams, worldwide sales and operational organizations.
“Tempo is exactly up my alley and having the opportunity to get involved to help the company in its successes is fantastic,” said Edgerton. “Together with Gozie and much of the Tempo team, we took SigmaTel to a leader position in MP3 and high end PC audio codecs. That breakthrough technology foundation is still intact and now has an opportunity to again change the market with the renewed focus as Tempo.”
Tempo is reigniting the value of audio products, delivering new ultra low power, high fidelity, mixed signal semiconductor solutions to the handheld and portable devices market, as well as continuing audio support for PCs.
Tempo now offers the industry’s largest and most complete audio product portfolio for the computing and consumer markets, support for devices ranging from PCs, laptops and game consoles to tablets, smart phones, wireless speakers and smart headphones. In addition to the PC, portable/handheld and software products, Tempo Semiconductor also acquired a highly skilled engineering and technical support organization, with unique experience in ultra-low power CMOS design.
The Tempo low-power DNA has resulted in new audio products for portable systems that reduce power losses by 5 to 10 times the conventional design at typical listening levels which can significantly extend battery life. These new products infused with low power DNA are fabricated using mainstream production facilities at the commonly available CMOS process nodes.
Earlier this summer, Tempo introduced its low power audio subsystem for portable applications. This new device – the TSCS42xxx - minimizes board space and reduces system cost through integration. The audio CODEC is ideal for Portable Audio Subsystem Including Tablet Computing, Gaming and Other Consumer and Industrial Applications. The TSCS42xxx family is currently sampling to qualified customers and is available in 5x5mm and 7x7mm QFN packages.
