The question is often asked “What was I doing at 11 years old?” when the topic of the World’s Youngest CEO comes up. Abi Smithson turned 11 the day before heading to Las Vegas to launch her Spring/Summer 2016 Collection at the world’s largest apparel and footwear show, Magic / FN Platform this week. She is attending the show with her parents and best friend to secure retail partnerships. “My goal at the show is to sign major retailers to carry my shoes at stores around the world” commented Abi.
After a week of inventors’ camp, then 8 year old, Abi Smithson noticed her mother’s ugly sandal tans and decided that a heart shape tan line would be much prettier. She told her parents of her idea and being entrepreneurs themselves, they encouraged her to learn about starting a business from the ground up and Made By Abi Inc. was founded. Fast-forward two years and this young CEO has racked up some huge wins.

When asked about her products, Abi responded “My new collection is really beautiful and super comfortable. It is so cool when women buy a pair for themselves and want a matching pair for their daughters. By popular demand, I am revealing my kid’s and men’s lines as well as the Princess Collection for the first time at Magic”
Abi’s parents are also working to make her business a success. Using their marketing agency, Shok Kreative, they have created a new digital marketing activation called “Augmented Apparel” that brings Abi’s logo to life on a T-Shirt. “It is magic to watch peoples reactions to seeing something as inert as a logo come to life on their phone with hearts flying off the screen. There is a real sense of wonder, which is perfect for Abi’s brand” commented Abi’s VP Marketing and Dad, Alan Smithson
The Smithson family has a much larger goal in mind as well “The education system globally is flawed. Kids are not being taught the most basic business, digital and social skills to be successful.” Said Abi’s VP Operations and Mom, Julie Smithson “Our mission is to inspire and educate one million successful entrepreneurs by 2021 by taking everything we have learned with Abi and distilling it into a much easier program”
