In July 2015, average sale prices for the close-in Washington metro real estate market have been relatively static, showing a 1.8 percent gain in average price since last July. In July, the region saw an even greater increase in the dollar volume of sales in the suburbs than in June.
Fairfax County showed a 24.8 percent increase in dollar volume of sales, compared to an 18.3 percent increase in June. Montgomery County which saw a 12 percent increase in June, nearly doubled with a 22.3 percent increase in July. The suburbs had been experiencing pretty sluggish sales in the last several months before the summer season compared to the District, but are finally gathering steam.
