PresenceLearning’s Fall Webinar Series Explores Practical Techniques for Better Behavior and Improved School Climate
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) August 18, 2015 -- A recent poll conducted by the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) found that 72 percent of its members report social-emotional strategies as the top professional development request from educators. Responding to this request by special educators and administrators for access to expert advice for handling social-emotional behavior issues in schools, PresenceLearning is launching a new fall series of free, 90-minute professional development webinars entitled “Real School Climate Change: New Approaches for Better Behavior.”
This three-part webinar series kicks off on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 10 AM PST/1 PM EST with “Beyond Behavior: Creating a Culture for Data-Driven Behavioral Interventions.” The 90-minute live webinar, led by behavior disorder expert Dr. Joe Ryan, will guide special educators through addressing maladaptive behavior using data-driven solutions to positively impact student achievement and school culture.

For students with social-emotional concerns and other behavioral disorders, exhibiting maladaptive behavior is a way for the student to cope. By intervening with a proven-effective strategy, educators can guide the student towards the expected behavior. When these expectations are enforced by all classrooms educators in a school, administrators, and support staff, students can be ready to learn in a consistent climate.
By attending this first webinar, participants will learn how to:

● Identify functions of a maladaptive behavior.
● Describe, understand, and apply single case research designs.

About Dr. Joe Ryan
Dr. Joe Ryan is a Professor of Special Education at Clemson University. He is the founder and Executive Director of Clemson LIFE (Learning is for Everyone), a post-secondary education program for young adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as several adaptive sports programs. He has taught students with emotional and behavioral disorders (E/BD) from grades K through 12 across a variety of educational settings, including resource and self-contained classrooms, special day schools, and a residential treatment center. Dr. Ryan has been published in over 50 publications and currently serves as the Editor of the journal Beyond Behavior. He frequently consults and speaks at national and international professional conferences.
