The City of Long Beach Selects MeterSense MDM for Its Data-Collection, Advanced Analytics, and Consumer Presentment Needs
Long Beach CA and Ottawa ON (PRWEB) August 20, 2015 -- The City of Long Beach has selected SmartWorks, a division of Harris Utilities, to provide MeterSense MDM (Meter Data Management), Compass UDM (Utility Decision Management) and CustomerConnect (Consumer Portal Solution) as an integral part of its AMI project.
The City provides service to over 154,000 residential and commercial Gas customers in Southern California. With the support of UtiliWorks Consulting in a program-management capacity, the utility has also selected Sensus FlexNet advanced metering infrastructure (AMI).
The City expects to be able to enhance customer service not only through providing customers direct access to their consumption details, but through putting better, more timely information in the hands of employees who interact with their customers. SmartWorks’ solutions will also provide the City the information necessary to take a more proactive approach to customer service rather than reactive. (such as leak detection, rate consultation, and conservation through opt-in notification of consumption alerts.)
“MeterSense MDM will play a critical role in the achievement of our overall AMI Metering objectives”, said Craig Beck, Long Beach Gas & Oil’s Business Operations Manager; “We see MeterSense as not only the primary interface to meter data, but as the integrated platform that will serve up actionable information from multiple sources, in a fashion that streamlines our business processes.”
He went on to say “SmartWorks also provides a consumer portal called CustomerConnect that will provide the information and tools to our customers that further our objectives in creating a true partnership with our customers.”
Chris Lewis, executive vice-president of SmartWorks, said “MeterSense is a highly interoperable MDM solution that will integrate smart-grid data seamlessly with the City of Long Beach’s other utility Enterprise systems. MeterSense and CustomerConnect provide advanced customer engagement and analytics capabilities that maximize Advanced Metering investments.”
