A&P Breaks Ground on South Metro Fire Rescue Authority (SMFRA) Fire Station 31
Greenwood Village, CO (PRWEB) August 20, 2015 -- An excited group gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking of the South Metro Fire Authority (SMFRA) Fire Station 31 project in Greenwood Village, CO. This project represents the current push by SMFRA to bring the authority’s facilities into the 21st century and provide optimal services to the community and will be the second project Adolfson & Peterson Construction (A&P) has built for the SMFRA.
In 2013, A&P completed the award-winning Cherry Hills Joint Public Safety Facility, a 13,000-sf facility built for both Fire and Police departments.
This new state-of-the-art, 12,740-sf fire station was designed by OZ Architecture to be as functional as possible while maintaining the aesthetic of the surrounding Greenwood Village neighborhood.
“We are excited to break ground on the new Fire Station 31. This fire station will provide much-needed space for our dive rescue equipment and is a prime location to deliver emergency services well into the future,” said, SMFRA Fire Chief Bob Baker. “We have worked with Adolfson & Peterson Construction on other fire stations and appreciate their commitment to excellence and making the construction process as trouble-free as possible for our citizens.”
Also in attendance was Greenwood Village Mayor, Ron Rakowsky and representatives of Town Council, members of the SMFRA Board, and fire fighters - many of whom will be working at the new facility.
The site, found at the SW corner of East Orchard and S Havana, is the location of the old Fire Station 31 that has been temporarily decommissioned while the new facility is constructed.
Construction on the new Fire Station 31 is scheduled to wrap-up in the spring of 2016.
