Conviva, the leader in video experience optimization, today announced that a paper co-authored by CEO, Dr. Hui Zhang, and Sr. Director of Engineering, Jibin Zhan, won the "ACM SIGCOMM Test of Time Award." The paper, "A clean slate 4D approach to network control and management," was one of the key research projects that formed the company’s intellectual roots.
The paper, originally published in October 2005, outlined principles that now comprise the architecture of Conviva’s Intelligent Control Platform, which continuously gathers and analyzes data from billions of streams across the globe to build a real-time, multi-dimensional performance map of the Internet. The ideas proposed in the paper have been implemented at some of the largest companies in the world, including Google, which re-built its data center networks using SDN technology. Currently, Internet service providers (ISPs) are evaluating SDN technology for their wide-area networks.
In addition, Conviva has been recognized as a finalist for the Digiday Signal Awards for its work with WatchESPN to deliver the optimal viewing experience to audiences across multiple devices, geographies and affiliates. This US-based industry award program honors technology platforms that bring efficiency, effectiveness and creativity to the media and marketing processes for brands, agencies and publishers.
In the United Kingdom, Conviva Precision has been shortlisted in the Best Monitoring or Network Management Solution category for the CSI Awards. These awards, now in their thirteenth year, reward technical and product marketing excellence in the cable, satellite, terrestrial broadcasting, mobile and IPTV sectors.
