Electrical Continuing Education Required for Oregon Journeyman and Limited Residential Electricians That Renew October 1st, 2015
Portland, OR (PRWEB) August 20, 2015 -- JADE Learning is pleased to offer the 24 Hour Renewal Package for Journeyman, which includes courses on the 2014 NEC Changes, OSHA Safety for Electricians, and OESC and Administrative Rules. The 16 Hour Renewal Package for Limited Residential Electricians includes 2014 NEC Changes Part 1, OSHA Safety for Electricians, and OESC and Administrative Rules. These packages are for Oregon electrical licensees that renew on Thursday, October 1st, 2015. The online packages are discounted until September 15th, 2015, so finish courses early to save money.
To qualify for renewal, all individuals licensed as Oregon journeyman (J) or limited residential electricians (LR) must renew their licenses by October 1st, 2015. The Oregon Building Codes Division requires that all journeyman electricians earn 24 hours of Oregon electrical continuing education each renewal cycle. Eight of the 24 hours must be on changes to the National Electrical Code, and four hours must be on Oregon Rule and Law. The other 12 hours can be industry/code related courses. For limited residential electricians, 16 hours of electrical continuing education must be completed each renewal period. Eight of the 16 hours must be on changes to the National Electrical Code, and four hours must be on Oregon Rule and Law. The last four hours earned can count as industry/code related courses.
Here are the steps to renewing an Oregon Electrical (J or LR) license:
Step 1. Complete all of the mandatory Oregon electrical continuing education hours (24 for Journeyman and 16 for Limited Residential Electricians). JADE Learning allows licensees to work on their courses at any time – day or night. You can log on to your JADE Learning account or register a free account from any device – a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The courses are designed to go at your own pace so they can be completed over the next few days, weeks, or all at once. The online packages are discounted through 9/15/15, so the courses have to be completed and paid for by 9/15/15 to get the discounted price.
Courses completed and paid for by 3:00 PM ET on September 30th, 2015, will be reported before the October 1st deadline. JADE Learning offers the most up-to-date Oregon electrical continuing education content and instructor support for electrical courses is just a click away – simply click on the question button at the bottom of the page to contact an instructor. After completing a course online, certificates can be immediately emailed to a licensee's inbox.
Step 2. Wait for the hours to be reported to the Oregon Building Codes Division. JADE Learning will report continuing education hours to the state by email. Status emails are sent to licensees once the hours have been reported to the Building Codes Division. The continuing education hours should post to Oregon’s site a few days after being reported. Check the status of reported hours online at the Oregon Building Codes Division website.
Step 3. Renew Oregon electrical licenses online. The required fee to renew an active journeyman or limited residential license is $100. Make sure to renew by the October 1st, 2015, deadline to keep an active license.
After an individual's license has been renewed, he or she will be able to continue working as an Oregon journeyman or limited residential electrician until the end of the next Oregon license renewal cycle on October 1st, 2018. Count on JADE Learning to offer industry-specific, applicable courses that are well-written and engaging. Electrical continuing education is our passion and top priority.
