Gaming and Destinations Media, publisher of Southern Gaming and Destinations, has acquired Midwest Gaming & Travel magazine in a move to expand its footprint as the marketing and communications leader for the gaming and travel industry.
The company will merge the publications into a new title, Gaming and Destinations, with unique editions for the South and Midwest that will feature region-specific stories and advertising. At the same time, the company will continue to expand its digital outreach and online content across the board.
“We are in the business of delivering great content to our readers while providing a fantastic marketing platform for our advertising clients,” said G. Douglas Dreisbach, general manager for Gaming and Destinations. “Our expansion into the Midwest will allow for even more engaging content for our readers and additional marketing capabilities for advertisers in the print and digital space,” he said.
Catherine Jaeger, publisher of Midwest Gaming & Travel, will stay on as a business liaison and contributing editor for the Midwest.
“Southern Gaming and Destinations and Midwest Gaming & Travel are both leaders in their regions,” Jaeger said. “Consolidating the two brands will form one of the largest gaming and travel-oriented media outlets in the country, and we look forward continuing to build the brands and serving our clients,” Jaeger added.
Immediate plans are to expand web-presence and digital marketing solutions for the Midwest region as well as additional digital services not previously offered.
“We have had a lot of success in the Southern region with digital marketing solutions and outreach because our email database is strong,” Dreisbach said. “This is something we look forward to bringing to the Midwest region and offering the properties yet another solution to their marketing strategy implementation,” he said.
Gaming and Destinations will debut with the November issue, which will include the publication’s regular gaming and travel feature articles, gambling tips, reviews, and recommendations on gaming properties in their respective markets. To mark the unveiling of the newly expand brand, the magazine will launch its popular Readers’ Choice Awards for the Midwest properties, designed to showcase the top property attributes throughout the region. Voting will take place beginning November 1 both in the magazine and online at SouthernGaming.com with the results published in May 2016.
