“Buddypass” was featured on NewsWatch as part of its monthly AppWatch, which takes a look at the latest and coolest applications on the market for iOS, Android, and Windows. Joe Toohey, the host of AppWatch and technology expert, conducted the app review and shared with viewers how this is the meet people nearby.
Social media has connected people thousands of miles apart in ways people never dreamed possible. But there comes a point when people have to put down the phone and meet people face to face. The app Buddypass has found the sweet spot between the two.
Users download the app and then they pick their favorite topic or category. It could be running, working out, eating in restaurants, skateboarding, really anything. Within that category, users will find people near them who share similar interests. Users can then view their lists of interests and see if there's somebody that they want to hang out with, swiping left to chat or right to invite them to the activity.
Another feature allows users to post in the newsfeed like other social media apps or create their own hangout. People can create an entire group meet-up and invite as many people as they want. So if a person needs a last minute plus one for an event, this is the perfect app for them.
Buddypass is huge in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. It has recently hit New York, Chicago and LA, with the rest of the country on its way. It’s compatible with iOS and Android devices and is available in the App Store for free today.
