Extending the Nortel refurbishment service to North America addresses a major customer segment that until now has been left with little options but to rip and replace Nortel equipment,” comments Gene Norgard, vice president of Sorrento Networks.

Sorrento Networks International, a global provider of DWDM optical systems to maximize fiber network bandwidth, has launched a Nortel equipment repair service in North America. For further details visit www/sorrentonet.com/service-and-support.

The announcement follows Sorrento Network’s acquisition by the Comtek Group in 2014. The Comtek Group is one of Europe’s largest data and telecom equipment repair, spares and support companies, and already offers support of the widely installed Nortel portfolio.

“Extending the Nortel refurbishment service to North America addresses a major customer segment that until now has been left with little options but to rip and replace Nortel equipment,” comments Gene Norgard, vice president of Sorrento Networks. “As organizations see both the economic and environmental impact of refurbishing telecom equipment we’re seeing major interest in this part of our business. Our parent company has offered this services with great success in Europe – so we’re excited to bring the Nortel service to its original home in North America.”

Nortel was one of the top global manufacturers of telecom equipment before it ceased operations in 2009. Today there remains a vast installed base of Nortel equipment still in service, but out of warranty. The Sorrento Networks service enables customers to continue to utilize the equipment with confidence.

The Sorrento Networks service, based out of the Pleasanton, California facility, covers the following complete range of Nortel manufactured products. This includes services for full systems, individual line cards, and system components:

  •     Comprehensive Card Repair and System Test Capabilities: Includes Chassis and standalone reference test systems and board-level repair capabilities.

Sorrento Networks is focused on supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 Wholesale Carriers, MSOs, Utility, and ILEC customers. Many of these customers have products from multiple manufacturers (such as Avaya, Cisco and Nortel) which can also be serviced in-house at Sorrento Networks.
