AST to Expand Access to High Quality Autism Services in South Central Los Angeles Through New Medi-Cal Program

The prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has increased from 1 in 150 to 1 in 68 in the last 15 years. ASD occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups yet there continues to be a discrepancy in diagnosis and access to care for minority groups and low income families.
Recent changes to Medi-Cal established that the State of California intends to provide behavioral health treatment for individuals under the age of 21. This means that Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is finally available for children with autism on Medi-Cal.
