ONE World Sports Announces 2015-2016 Kontinental Hockey League Broadcast Schedule - Program Alert
Stamford, CT (PRWEB) August 24, 2015 -- ONE World Sports, America’s Network for Global Sports, announced its coverage of the 2015-16 Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) season will premiere today at 12:30 PM EST when SKA (St. Petersburg) hosts the CSKA (Moscow). This is the third year that ONE World Sports has been bringing KHL hockey to American fans. ONE World Sports inaugural game this season, shown live, features SKA star Ilya Kovalchuk beginning the team’s defense of the KHL Gagarin Cup title. Kovalchuk, the reigning Gagarin Cup MVP, is a three-time NHL All-Star and led the NHL in scoring in 2004. Alexander Radulov, a former winger for the Nashville Predators, leads CKSA’s strong attack.
ONE World Sports will also bro adcast the Jokerit (Helsinki) vs. CSKA (Moscow) game live on August 29th at 9:00 AM EST and the HC Sochi vs. Yaroslavl Lokomotiv game on same day delay on August 31 at 5:00 PM EST. ONE World Sports will carry up to 99 live games, including 50 regular season contests and will provide complete coverage of the postseason concluding with the Gagarin Cup Finals in April. Sportscaster Ed Cohen, who, among numerous hosting roles, has served as an NHL Network anchor and called last year’s KHL playoffs and Gagarin Cup Finals for ONE World Sports, will be providing play-by-play analysis again this season. The Russia-based KHL was founded in 2008 and includes 28 teams from Russia and Europe. Teams hail from Finland, Belarus, Croatia, Latvia, Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Russia. Dozens of former NHL players and coaches have extended their careers in the KHL including Metallurg MG coach Mike Keenan, who is best known for coaching the 1994 NHL champion New York Rangers. Several recent top KHL performers are now in the NHL, such as Steve Moses, who joins the Nashville Predators this season after scoring a KHL-record 36 goals last season.
