Greenberg Traurig Team Secures Defense Verdict in Patent Trial in Eastern District of Texas
TYLER, Texas (PRWEB) August 24, 2015 -- A multi-office team at international law firm Greenberg Traurig obtained a jury verdict of non-infringement in a patent trial on behalf of Rex Medical, LP and Argon Medical Inc. against a non-practicing entity called EVM Systems, a subsidiary of Acacia, the world's largest patent holding company (EVM Systems, LLC v. Rex Medical, L.P. et al, Case Number: 6:13-cv-00184) . The case was tried in the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division before the Honorable Judge Robert W. Schroeder, III. After a five-day trial, the jury returned its non-infringement verdict in just under two hours on Friday, Aug. 21.
The team was led by shareholders Mary-Olga Lovett in Houston and Scott J. Bornstein in New York, with the assistance of Shareholder Victor D. Vital in Dallas and of counsel attorneys Ira R. Hatton, Rene A. Treviño, and Tara M. Williams in Houston. This is the third consecutive defense verdict in patent trials obtained by the team of Lovett and Bornstein in the Eastern District of Texas.
Lovett is Texas co-regional operating shareholder and Houston co-managing shareholder for Greenberg Traurig and serves on the firm's Executive Committee. Licensed in both Texas and New York, she concentrates her practice in intellectual property, complex commercial litigation, and appeals.
